Stop churn before it happens with our new Retention Flow. Plus: Stripe Tax, smart email tags, and deeper conversion insights.
April's updates focus on the three pillars of your subscription business: reducing churn, simplifying tax compliance, and tracking your conversions with more precision.
Here’s everything new in Leaky Paywall, grouped by the tools you use every day:
Leaky Paywall Core (v5.0.4 - v5.0.9)
Automated Stripe Tax: You can now enable Stripe Tax directly within Leaky Paywall. Let Stripe handle the jurisdictional math and tax collection while you focus on your content.
Smart Email Fallbacks: We’ve added "fallbacks" to email tags. Now, if a subscriber’s name is missing, you can set a default like "there" (e.g., Hi there) so your automated emails always look professional.
Conversion Attribution: We’ve updated our tracking to show you exactly which articles are driving paid upgrades. You can now see which specific content is fueling your "Top Content - Paid Conversions" in Insights.
A Smoother Reader Experience: We fixed issues where the paywall might incorrectly appear for a visitor who had already viewed an article, ensuring your loyal readers have a frictionless experience.
Recurring Payments (v1.6.0 - v1.6.1)
The Retention Flow: This is a game-changer for churn. Instead of a silent cancellation, you can now automatically present a "Retention Offer" (like a special coupon) to readers right before they leave.
Why are they leaving? We’ve added a structured "Cancellation Reason" dropdown. Now, you get the data you need to understand exactly why people are unsubscribing.
The Retention Dashboard: Track your "Saves" and cancellation trends at a glance with our new Retention admin page and dashboard stat cards.
Past Due Access Control: You can now automatically revoke content access the moment a payment fails, encouraging subscribers to update their cards immediately during Stripe's retry window.
Coupons (v2.4.3 - v2.4.5)
Retention Support: New coupon types specifically designed for the "Save" flow mentioned above.
Performance Tracking: You can now see usage stats directly on the coupon code screen to see which offers are resonating.
Double Opt-In (v1.4.0)
Modernized Experience: We’ve redesigned the pending-account notices and verification emails with a cleaner, more professional look.
OTP Security: Added One-Time Code (OTP) support for List Builder signups to ensure your list stays secure and bot-free.
Corporate Subscriptions (v1.9.0)
UI Overhaul: Fully updated for compatibility with Leaky Paywall 5.0, featuring a cleaner settings interface and new insight cards for your dashboard.
IP Blocker (v1.5.3 - v1.5.4)
Instant Unblocking: We’ve refined how we handle identified subscribers. The moment a visitor logs in or signs up, any IP blocks are cleared instantly so they can access your content without delay.
Multipass & Extensions
Multipass (v1.2.1): Clearer setup feedback and updated sync settings for multi-site publishers.
Campaign Monitor (1.2.0): Added a connection tester to ensure your email sync is working perfectly.
Quick Register: Improved expiration logic for "Forever" levels and more accurate reading count tracking.
